Have you ever met someone who is so guided by their imagination that they always tend to stay in their own world, away from reality? This is exactly what Anne Shirley’s character is. Anne of Green Gables is a book written by Lucy Maud Montgomery and published by L.C Page in June 1908. This classic novel follows the adventures of a spirited orphan girl Anne Shirley, who comes to stay at Green Gables and wins the hearts of everyone she meets. Goodreads and Barnes and Nobles rates this novel a four and a half out of five stars. Unlike other novels, Anne of Green Gables does not seem to be an awfully tragic story despite the fact that it includes an orphaned girl who has had a hard life. The reader enjoyed this book very much as it was a story about love, friendship, adventure and great characters.

The main character in the story is a young girl named Anne Shirley. She is a teenage girl with red hair and pale skin. Anne is stubborn, passionate, loyal, and intelligent. She loves beauty, fantasy and wants to be a good person. The novel follows Anne as she makes social blunders and tries to quickly absorb the rules of society religion, and morality that other children have grown up learning. She has difficulty mixing these social customs with her own unique sensibilities. Anne’s terrible temper sometimes flares and she screams and stamps her foot when anger overtakes her. Her desire for beauty, imagination, and goodness motivates her behavior. Anne struggles to reconcile her imagination and romantic notions with the rigid expectations of
