The paper presents that the term “indie” in film was originally argued to describe a movies finance or if a studio is involved in making it. However, currently, the indie film genre has a certain distinction that does not involve the finance used into making it. The paper mentions that indie films are those that break away from what mainstream movies present and this deviation is what defines the genre. The article talks of how many independent film makers make indie films for themselves, as a form of expressing themselves. The indie directors expressed how they do not make the films for the money or the audience. The source also points out how mainstream is an escape from reality, while indie films will tell you the truth of the world. This article shows a clear idea on how independent film makers see their genre, but the article is one sided and biased.
