This website has a collection of articles about practice of Sati or Widow burning. It talks about the history of Sati and what’s behind it. Also talks about who started it, which is original name of the goddess Sati, also known as Dakshayani, who self-immolated because she was unable to bear her father Daksha's humiliation of her (living) husband Shiva. It talks about the reactivation of the practice has had considerable social and political impact, especially in the case of the "Deorala affair" the burning of a young Rajput widow named Rup Kanwar in Rajasthan in September 1987. Also there is a part where it talks about the culture and the myth behind the widow burning. For example if the widow stay alive, it’s a bad luck for the husband family. She also analyzes the debate on sati, or widow burning, in colonial India. This book covers what is like to be a widow in India. They way that people treat you as a maid, because your husband is dead and there is no one that can watch over you. And how the husbands’ family will not let you get marry once again, because it counts as if you’re cheating on your dead husband. This book has a great information, that I could use in my paper to let the readers understand more about, how there isn’t anything you can do after your husband is dead in some countries. I choose this source because, I was really interested to know what happens if the wife decide to to kill herself, and to show that there isn’t any option for her even if she is alive, and that is why most of the widows decide to burn
