Peter Skene Ogden was born in 1794. Ogden was an experienced trapper and mountain man who remained with the Hudson’s Bay Company, after its 1821 merger with the North West Fur Company. Shortly after that he was made leader of the Snake River Expeditions by John Mcloughlin. He also was instructed to continue the British policy of creating a “fur desert”. Ogden with a brigade of 131, pushed south from flathead house toward Utah in December 1824.
James Van Der Zee was a photographer who was key for understanding the Harlem Renaissance, while also becoming known for his detailed imagery of African-American life. James Van Der Zee was a man of effort. He put his heart into what he loved, that being photography. He took very detailed images and took his time to make the the best images of the Harlem Renaissance. He made a great contribution to the remembrance of the Harlem Renaissance with his pictures, immortalizing it into the history books.
When he was 19 years old, he enlisted in the Navy. His musical abilities were discovered when he joined the Melody Masters, which played jazz and swing tunes. After his duties, he was a leader in the band, and then he produced his first ever recording with other band members, in which they played jazz and bebop songs. He was discharged from the Navy and went home, to Philadelphia, where he joined

It was a cool day in the Poconos Mountains, we had made a reservation to go white water rafting. The next morning we had to wake up extra early to eat breakfast so we weren’t late for our trip. When my parents said, “were going white water rafting” I thought we were going straight down to the river , but of course it wasn’t. When we got there we each had to fill out papers clearly stating our medical information but, of course my parents had to sign too. Once everything had been signed we had to wait about thirty minutes for everyone else to get there.
