In any play, book or story there is always a character or two that are looked down on and seen as "the bad guy." Despite the fact that these characters are the antagonists of the story, they often have a significant role that allows the plot to advance. In Romeo and Juliet and Anne Frank, Tybalt and the Nazi party are the main antagonists in each play. Even though their presences is different in each play, they are portrayed in distinct scenarios and conditions, they share several qualities that pull them closer together and define their significant roles as antagonistic characters. Usually, first impressions of characters are what audiences remember the most. It is an opportunity to decide their feelings towards each character. The setting and time of when the author introduces these characters affect how audiences view them. In Romeo and Juliet, Tybalt, a member of the Capulet family, is first seen in act one when a fight with members of the Montague family breaks out. One of Tybalt 's first lines is " What! His actions created tension and generated problems for other characters. Also, Tybalt was always ready to fight and defend the Capulet honour. He noticed Romeo was at the Capulet feast, uninvited. “This by his voice should be a Montague. Fetch me my rapier, boy. What, dares the slave Come hither, cover’d with an antic face, To fleer and scorn at our solemnity? Now, by the stock and honour of my kin, To strike him dead I hold not a sin. (1. 5. 53 - 58)” Kin means family. From this moment, Tybalt wanted revenge against Romeo and his friends, to defend the honour of the Capulets, his family. Montagues and Capulets are never seen together very often and because Romeo attended the feast, it angered Tybalt and his hatred grew
