One of the poems that stood out to me was the poem by Catalina Ferro titled “Anxiety Group.” Catalina speaks about her experience with anxiety and how she is being weaned off the medication that best works for her; however, she is being placed in anxiety group instead (Ferro and UrbanaPoetrySlam, 2012). She speaks about the individuals who are present at the group and how everyone participating the group want to live so much that they are willing to fight all the anxiety just to get the chance to live and love (Ferro and UrbanaPoetrySlam, 2012). The expression of how badly the individuals in the group want to live is eye opening. I never thought about going to a group therapy as a fight for trying to get your life back.
