The Mongol Empire quickly spread through Asia under the rule of Genghis Khan. They did this with battle strategies and carefully planned illusions to trick the enemy. This land they gained, they would plunder and kill all the conquered people. The Mongols spread fear and terror throughout the world. However, this was only the beginning of the Mongol Empire. After the Mongols settled and became more civilized, they made cultural exchange thrive, advancing the cultures of many. This is because the Mongols controlled and used things to their advantage. People could travel across their land without fear, helping trade and other things. Kublai Khan realized something about most of the religions in the area. This is proven by the document Mongke Khan on God, which states, (as Kubai Khan stated) “But just as God gave different fingers to the hand so has He given different ways to men.” This means that there are several parts of the God, each of which were given to a different culture. Many religions are similar, with one God, such as Christianity and Muslim, they just interpret the God differently. Kublai Khan’s realization could have caused great cultural exchange throughout religions, which might not have happened before. This shows that under Kublai Khan’s rule, there would have been a mix of religion, meaning there would also be cultural exchange. Overall, Kublai Khan’s realization about religion could change the way people think. Even if people have different cultures, there may be many similarities in the way they live, which would make it easier to exchange cultures with each other.
