Americans today tend to believe that the interaction between the Europeans and native people has shaped the new world. Historians believe that Europeans discovery of the new world have impacted the way we function as a society today. The two historic documents that stresses on the significance of these people are “Document three and Document seven”. Document three on the hand emphasis Christopher Columbus’s discovery of the West Indies. In his writing Christopher Columbus speaks of the West Indies, the islands that is filled with resources. Document seven on the other hand speaks of the Dutch’s arrival to Manhattan. Their first meeting with the Native Americans was at the island of Manhattan. Both these document shows how their discoveries influenced their today’s societies. Document three addressed the finding of Christopher Columbus. It also shed light on the lives of the Native Americans living in the West Indies. Christopher Columbus, as the document commences, looks at the discovery as a success. He states “you will have pleasure of the great victory”. The essence of making this statement is to give the Europeans an image of what unknown to them. At first, the Dutch were encountered by some natives who had been hunting. The Dutch were mistaken for the god of nature “Mannitto”.Being that it is the god of nature; the people gathered their necessities and were awaiting its arrival. The natives assembled and welcomed the Dutch into their lands. Upon arrival the Dutch traded with the Natives and they became friendly. Due to the resources and farmland available on the island, the Dutch settled sharing it with the natives. The Dutch settling on Manhattan sparked the importance of trade. The Dutch were being able to utilize the Hudson River for trade. Also, they traded with the
