America wanted to break free from the grips of the British, the colonists were tired of its mother country doing actions that would only benefit herself. Those thoughts became actions from April 19, 1775 – September 3, 1783; and the world would know this by the name of the revolutionary war. The revolution evolved America to what it is today, it was revolutionary. It brought ideological changes and through the years have given people more freedom, the revolutionary war brought changes to the idea of slavery. That was until the American Revolution occurred, some of the American people wanted to remove slavery; with the declaration stating “... that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights; … life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” (Document 2). It probably influenced American to re-think the idea of slavery, therefore several states passed gradual abolition acts to get rid of slavery. (Document 5). Nevertheless slavery was not just the only ideological change, citizens also changed their views on women, that they should be considered more since they are the caretakers of the men who work in the nation and the children who are the future. Merchants and any other citizens were able to sell what they wanted without regulations from Britain. Americans could purchase goods without extreme taxes from a distant ruler. The major taxes were a huge part of the reason for the revolution, after the war the taxes were brought down but not completely eliminated. The Economic Status of the Representatives in Six Colonial/State Legislature shows that even they weren't suffering, they representatives were not poor at all it was a zero percent. (Document 4).
