In the movie Apocalypse Now by Francis Ford Coppola, The way that he portrays the effects of war on the human is very different than Terrence Malick the director of the movie The Thin Red Line portrays the effects of war. In Apocalypse now Francis Ford shows how the Colonel Kurtz lost his mind while fighting in the war. The director uses very specific images that really highlight and allow the audience to see this. When Willard talks his face is about half shadow half light this is showing how although Willard is the good guy in this story he is starting to go crazy like he is half good but the other half is the evil in him. Francis Ford is pretty much describing Colonel Kurtz temple as hell. In The Thin Red Line, Terrence Malick uses bright light colors to show a slice of paradise a heavenly place. The color used really is very important to the movie. Another important technique is the camera usage.
