The Men on the Hills who try to kill the civilians of Sarajevo had free reign to kill whoever they chose “There’s no such thing as being careful, that the men on the hills can kill anyone, anywhere, anytime they like” (Galloway 16). These men have no moral principles like the Nazis. They shoot people as they choose, almost like a game. The innocent civilians do not know if they will make it home for dinner every day. The Men on the Hills also dictated everyday essential resources such as water and electricity “While life is more difficult without electricity, it is impossible without water” (Galloway 14).
These violent incidences evoke certain emotions in the audience reading this book today in addition to those exposed to it back then. Television broadcasts were primarily responsible for displaying public violence and they had a great affect on viewers and ultimately the

Evil is around every corner, always skulking about. It is the process of dehumanization that makes possible the evils of war, and desensitizes the victimizer to smaller evils committed on a daily basis. Dehumanization occurs in Night and in “Pirandellian Prison” and also on the Internet. Evil is everywhere no matter where you go either something will be bad or someone will be bad. Chavez makes the reader feel emotion for what has or could possibly happen by talking about the consequences. He states that a violent victory is one that comes with death, suffering, and destruction. Even when it is won there are still continuous consequences. Violence can provoke an individual to be easily manipulated and become evil or uncivilized. For example, “Other problems include high levels of youth unemployment in the Muslim community, the availability of arms and a highly developed communications and transportation network in Belgium” (Burke 2). Because of the low youth unemployment, Belgium is a main target for Muslim terrorists. European countries due to violence against them and inequality bombed Belgium several times because of the corruption of Belgium. As well as in Lord of the Flies the boys killed an innocent because of that fear of the “beast” on the island (Golding 153).
