Amidst all the chaos surrounding my childhood that consisted of adjusting to being the first generation to be born in the united states in my lineage, with parents who hardly knew any English and trying to make a life for their children, to perusing the American dream in America, I was blessed enough to have experienced first-hand compassion from other individuals that made the American dream possible for my family. Having being born in the states, it was important for my sisters and I to travel to Nigeria to visit our native home. Once there, my experience, in terms of the medical treatments, were not as advanced as that of America. I was involved in multiple organizations, Scholarship pageants, a part time job, all while maintaining a full-time student course load. To manage these tasks, I turned my mirror into my weekly planner where I used expo markers to make a note of everything that needed to be done. This helped me to achieve academic excellence.
I am dedicated and will always strive for what I want, so if something may not work, try again until you find the way that is suitable for you. Understanding a problem is a part of the solution, and I am aware that I have my share of weaknesses. I find it difficult to take criticism. I put forth a lot of effort when it comes to any endeavor I pursue. I am learning that constructive criticism is for my benefit and only builds me as a person, however, it is something I am still working on constantly to take the criticism with open arms.
The university of Texas medical branch is the school I know I will further my academic career to become what I always wanted to be. There is no other school that will have the amount of zeal about their students as much as UTMB does. From the school’s reputation, the outstanding passing rates, the caring faculty and staff, new and advanced equipment, and untimely the success of the students after graduation, UTMB is not only the school of my dreams but a school I will feel right at
