Going into my first year at Wake Tech, I had no idea what to expect, I felt prepared for college-level rigor and time management, but it was a whole new world socially, and logistically from the comfort of high school that I had gotten so accustomed to. Currently, I am working toward an Associate in Fine Arts with the intent to transfer to UNC Charlotte for graphic design in the fall of 2024. The classes I have taken so far have provided a challenge, but nothing I couldn’t overcome. Of course, I had to start with general education classes, but when I got deeper into the classes specific to my degree, drawing, 2d design, and even art history, I started to really feel at home. This scholarship would help me achieve my educational goals by allowing me to explore more of these classes, trying things like ceramics, and 3D modeling, the art field has grown so much more interesting to me, and its right in front of me, I just need the resources to grab it. I have even considered shifting in the direction of pursuing an Associate in graphic design here at wake tech, I feel so comfortable here, and with the array of classes provided, I feel I have more than everything necessary to grow and find success in my field. With this scholarship I would pursue more hands-on art classes, developing my style and my skills more and more with each class, this would also allow me to have the materials needed to achieve these goals, especially because art supplies can really get steep in price, but it’s worth it to grow my craft as an …show more content…

I was recently inducted into the PTK honor society, and later I was elected as the Vice President of the chapter at the south campus. After holding the Vice President role of the National Honor Society in high school, it was an honor to maintain that status going into college and to take advantage of the resources around me to grow my name in the college sphere. I am excited and honored to be given the opportunity to serve as Vice President, and I plan on taking concrete steps toward bettering not only Wake Tech but the community around us as well. Whether that be handing out goodie bags on exam week, picking up trash around campus and the community, or just lending a hand at a local donation center, from a young age I have always strived to be involved with opportunities to better our community.
