This difference in oxygen levels is the difference between a surviving catfish and a dead one. They were both from the same site so they should have not been off by as much as that, showing the imprecision of our class
The built-in probe in the chamber measured the dissolved oxygen concentration in the chamber’s water (mg/L), which could reflect the oxygen consumption rate of goldfish. After the fish accommodated to the new environment, the oxygen concentration data were collected every 20 seconds for 10 minutes by the Logger Lite program. The data were then plotted into a scatter chart and analyzed with a linear trendline, to obtain
This laboratory experiment involving invertebrates is conducted to enable students to investigate Daphnia magna’s responses to external stimuli, therefore developing a better understanding and knowledge of homeostasis that occurs in organisms and the reaction and behavior exhibited by the daphnia magna when varying conditions are exposed to the organism compared to its natural environment conditions (Carter-Edwards et al, 2011). In order to understand the experiment, a foundation of information about the chosen organism such as its natural environment and physiology must be understood. According to Clare (2002) and Ebert (2005), Daphnia magna are small planktonic crustaceans belonging to the subclass Phyllopoda, found in lakes and
Ingrown toenail Overview: Doctors call ingrown toenails which, translated, means “nail ingrown. " Many people are struggling with this discomfort that, more often than not, leads to real problems. The ingrown toenails occurs when part of the nail (or foot Hand) sticking into the skin causing swelling and inflammation. This usually occurs when the nail bed is insufficient to contain the nail that, then, to expand, creates a furrow abnormally. Causes: There is no single cause that determines the problem ingrown nail.
Notes: M They are Pelagic, this means that they inhabit the upper layers of the sea. It has an air bubble inside of its stomach so as a result, they float on the surface of the ocean. They float upside down by using the surface tension of the water to stay up.
Great choices, I read a couple of previously discussion and I believe most of us have different answers, but they all relate. Therefore, your choices of overkill, habitat destructions, introduction of animals and disease it’s a little different. Mostly, I was curious with your choice of introduction of animal and how that came to be one of your choices. In general, I agree after reading your example of the tree snails of Tahiti and Moorea on how the government introduced the giant African snail as a food animal.
Ingrown toenails are a common condition in which the corner or side of a toenail grows into the soft flesh. Ingrown toenails often lead to pain, redness and swelling of the infected toe. Ingrown toenails are most often of the big toe; however, any toe can have an ingrown if you aren’t careful. Many times, attempting to fix the problem yourself leads to more complications, so professional treatment is important-especially if there is an infection. What are Common Causes of Ingrown Toenails?
A country that is an exemplification of the diversity of life is Australia. This country has consistently evolved over centuries and its various species is a reflection of this. Within the Australian ecosystem is a population of rare snails. These snails are known scientifically as Thersites mitchellae or commonly referred to as the Mitchell's rainforest snail. These are a species of snails most widely known for their vibrant and colorful shell.
Question 1 Duty of care is defined as “the legal duty to take reasonable care to prevent causing harm or injury.” There will be a breach of a duty of care owed to the claimant if there is an act or omission that causes the harm or injury. The neighbour principle is where a person can reasonably foresee that his or her actions may cause physical damage to another person or property of others, thus there is a duty to take reasonable care in most situations (Law & Martin (ed.) 2013, p. 187). Lord Atkin developed the neighbour principle in the famous case of Donoghue v Stevenson [1932] AC 562, also known as the Snail in the Bottle case, to determine when a duty of care might arise. The existence and extent of the duty of care will depend on the
Sea turtles have lived around for 110 million years. Unlike other turtles, They can not put tier limbs and head in their shell. Their shell is more flat than normal turtles so they can swim better. But because of careless fishing, habitat destruction and plastic pollution has made the turtles endangered or threatened.
The chemical equation for this experiment is hydrochloric acid + sodium thiosulphate + deionised water (ranging from 25ml to 0ml in 5ml intervals) sodium chloride + deionised water (ranging from 25ml to 0ml in 5ml intervals) + sulphur dioxide + sulphur. As a scientific equation, this would be written out as, NA2S2O3 + 2HCL + H2O (ranging from 25ml to 0ml in
Common name: Giant African Snail Description: Compared to other snails, the A. fulica is bigger, can be up to eight inches tall and like any other organism in the mollusca phylum possess a shell. The shell is shaped in the form of a cone and has up to nine swirls of color adorning it. The color of the shell ranges from dark brown and reddish brown. Additionally, the shell can be decorated with streaks and marking that can be dark or light in color. Although the color of the shell mainly depends on the environment it finds itself in.
We had to pour 46 gallons of water into the tank, and our fish required us to do more than just normal water. We had to put salt into the water, and for each gallon of water needed 2 cups of salt, so we stirred the mixture of water and salt together. The next difficult step that we needed to overcome was installing the filter and the air pumps into our tank. We had some struggles at first when we followed the instructions, and thankfully Mr. Kring came to help us to finish installing the filter and the air pumps. Finally, our tank could be started to have creatures living in.
Most tropical fish require a constant water temperature between 75° and 80° F. Goldfish and certain other cold water species are the exception to the rule. They can exist quite comfortably without a heater. Lighting brings out the natural colors of your fish and is essential for live plant growth. There are many different types of aquarium light fixtures available.
Goals and Objectives: The Department of Game and Inland Fisheries’ vision statement is about inspiring people to connect with nature and the environment, which is a quality that I am looking for potential careers. Therefore, that is one of the reasons this internship was a great match for me. My goals for this internship were to experience a career in the environmental studies field that would allow me to experience different types of work, such as field work and lab work instead of only desk work. I did not get to experience any true fieldwork because it was January, but I did get to visit a few sites such as the Fish way at Boshers Dam and the VCU Rice Center. In place of the fieldwork, I did get the opportunity to experience a lot of lab
