During the 1960’s the United States was experiencing a time of love, peace, war, and internal turmoil within its own borders. The experiences of war were being tossed aside by the movement toward peace and love. The quest by many to remain out of the international wars and to focus on life with happiness, peace, and internal balance was the common theme among many young people. A time of turmoil in the world and aggression in many countries cannot be explained on a rational level. Too many reasons many not understandable and are considered unacceptable by the democratic rationale of our country. The United States has been torn apart by the war in Vietnam. The State Department issued the White Paper on Vietnam to explain the importance and the need for immediate action against the communist aggressors involved. North Vietnam has been warned to stay within its borders. It has ignored direction from the international level and warnings from the United States. The Vietcong, North Vietnam forces, has shown deliberate yet deceptive practices in invading and attempting to seize power in South Vietnam. South Vietnam is fighting to remain free. The United States must support the countries quest to remain free from tyranny of the communist regime. The United States must encourage the desire of democratic nations to resist the communist country’s desire to expand. This time is imperative in history because the Vietcong has shown deliberate aggression toward a democratic nation without regard to the warnings given by the international community. The need for world or international action has been called upon. Without the response from the free, democratic nations holding power, the smaller democratic nations will be taken by the communist
