The cause of homelessness isn’t laziness; being homeless requires a lot of stress into thinking about how to survive each day. Most homeless people are not criminals and many of those who are technically criminals have committed property crimes in order to live. In addition, the top reasons of homelessness are lack of affordable housing, lack of a living wage, and medical bankruptcy, but none of these reasons are related to choice. These misconceptions and stereotypes are dangerous to society since they seriously interfere with attempts to help those that are in need and
Homelessness is usually a result of several of complicated issues. First, domestic and family violence is considered to be the most common reason why people become homeless. Domestic and family violence is that one person uses abuse and/or violence to control his/her spouse or other family members through fear (Domestic Violence Prevention Centre, 2016). Therefore, victims prefer to stay outside all day in order to avoid being at home which is considered as nightmare. Second, financial difficulty is another major cause for homelessness.
Some people may think that homelessness is a trouble because they assume that the individual is lazy and just wants life to be handed to them. Further assumptions are made about drugs causing individuals to become homeless. While that sometimes happens, many times it is the other way around. Individuals who have become homeless feel helpless and give into the release from their reality that drugs can give them (Thompson, 2011). People that do not consider factors outside of the individual are overlooking the breakdown within many institutions including school and the family that could lead an individual to become homeless.
The current government is creating a situation where more families along with their children are experiencing homelessness. An individual may be considered homeless when they lack permanent housing and have to stay in shelters, abandoned buildings or vehicles, on the streets, or in other forms of unstable situations. Many homeless people start out with jobs and stable residences, but then social and economic factors intervene, causing a rapid change in their living situation causing them to leave, and live on the street. Even with the population of homeless keeps increasing, the government does not aid nor benefit the homeless because they only worsen the homeless problem by having laws that go against homelessness, not helping mentally ill homeless population, and having the lack of subsidized housing.

It is indiscriminate and has no concern for one’s status, race, ethnicity, background, religion, and so on. Therefore the fear of homelessness is the fact that it can happen at any time.. As a result of the United States economic situation, there is a lack of jobs and livable wages provided for growing communities. The insufficient provision of financial aid is among the factors that cause homelessness. Unable to be financially independent, the homeless tend to meet their financial needs through illegal avenues. These avenues involve the interaction with drugs and
Los Angeles County's homeless population has soared 23% over last year despite increasing success in placing people in housing, according to the latest annual count released Wednesday. The sharp rise, to nearly 58,000, suggested that the pathway into homelessness continues to outpace intensifying efforts that — through rent subsidies, new construction, outreach and support services — got more than 14,000 people permanently off the streets last year. "Staggering," Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn said in a statement. "It is clear that if we are going to end the homeless crisis, we need to stem the overwhelming tide of people falling into homelessness."

I live only a few miles away from Seattle where the shining glass skyscrapers protrude out of the landscape of like giant spikes on the back of a great beast, reflecting the light around them. Right before dusk, the towering Space Needle resembles a charcoal sketch silhouetted against the dying sun. Nestled between mountain ranges, the Puget Sound, and Lakes Union and Washington, this picturesque city may look like a beautiful place to live, but underneath the shining overpasses and next to two huge multi-million dollar sports stadiums, lays a three-mile stretch of tents and garbage where thousands of homeless live. With fires and acts of violence breaking out daily, this chaotic landscape earned the name “the Jungle.” Seattle announced this problem a state emergency back in 2014 when the ever growing population of homeless people grew to an almost uncontrollable amount.

Homeless is not a word that just fits one type of person. From people living on street corners to people living with multiple different family members, all of these people are all considered homeless. Out of the millions of people living on the street around America, there are 1.6 million teenagers who have been disowned or ran away and are now in a position where they must provide for themselves, find a place to live and earn a living. Many of theses teenagers have been forced on the street for choices they have made that caused their parents or guardians to withdraw support and love from them leaving them with the choice to live in a home of neglect or abuse or runaway. Providing for themselves at a young age can cause many problems and make teenagers turn to a variety of unreliable sources and substances to help them survive these mentally and physically draining times.
