Many patients who suffer from terminal illnesses often question if there will be a tomorrow. These patients often end their final days suffering because of unbearable pain. Those who suffer from a terminal illness often accept the idea of dying and refuse to take any medical treatments. Many of these patients wish to end their life in their own terms hoping to have a peaceful ending. Some wish to leave everything ready for when they are gone. Many states like California, Colorado, Vermont, Oregon, and Washington offer the “Death with Dignity Act” to patients with an incurable disease. Although many states are in favor of giving terminally ill patients this option some states like Texas oppose, claiming that “Death with Dignity Act” is morally incorrect. following in second place after Alaska. Popularly known as the “Lone Star State” housing the Alamo located in Austin and having the largest Medical Center located in Houston. Texas is also known for as a state composed of a large Christian- Republican population. Therefore, abortion and the “Death with Dignity Act is a big no in this state. Texas claims to value life, but research shows otherwise. Texas is known as the state with the largest population of inmates killed through the Death Penalty. Inmates are being killed every day without their consent, yet this act is considered correct and just. On the other hand, terminally ill patients who wish to end their suffering life are not allowed by the government. It seems that the government does not have a clear stance on what is considered a life. I believe that Texas government officials should reconsider and examine these laws that challenge the rights of terminal ill
