Royalty Macbeth Mania Although it is unfortunate, “You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards” is reality (Jobs). Steve Jobs' speeches once said that the consequences of the past affect the future and unfortunately, it could be out of control these words indicate that there are no ways to change the future, decisions from the past have consequences that must be dealt with. Macbeth was a tragedy written by William Shakespeare based in medieval Scotland times. The play follows the character Macbeth through the ups and downs of working to be and becoming royalty. They stared, and were distracted. / No man’s life was to be trusted with them” (Shakespeare 2.3.103-105). Together Macbeth and Lady Macbeth came up with a plan to frame the “drunk” guards and take his so-called place as king after the murder. To add onto that, the text also states, “Given to the common enemy of man, to make them kings, the seeds of Banquo kings!/ Rather than so, come, fate, into the list, And champion me to th’ utterance!” (Shakespeare 1.1.69-72). Macbeth saw Banquo as a threat and that is why he wanted him killed that's why he hired three assassins to do the job for him. After killing Banquo, Macbeth's plan was successful for a while until he was caught. Banquo mentioned to Macbeth that he had a dream about the three witches, in response Macbeth said, “I think not of them” (Shakespeare 2.1.22). Once again lying to someone in order to keep his conscience and reputation clean. Linking these lines together, Macbeth misled many people into believing he was an innocent man. Learning about these lies leads most to believe Macbeth is not a truthful person and should not be trusted.
Others may contend that Macbeths' actions were led by the manipulation of Lady Macbeth and so he technically was not in control of his future nor intentionally burying his past. While Macbeth was questioning his wife this was said, “When you durst do it, then you were a man; And to be more than what you were, you would Be so much more the man” (1.7. 49-51). After Lady Macbeth said this, that was when realization kicked in, he needed to go through with it in order to make himself seem masculine and courageous. Wanting to impress Lady Macbeth, he surrendered to all these crimes to make his wife love him more. Each person can make their own decisions, and most know that each choice has a consequence. Macbeth as a person knew this and still decided to go through with the murders and lying. Therefore he was not manipulated but made his own decisions to please his
