Remember the first time you scribbled with crayons on the walls at your home, that was many people's first expression of imagination and creativity. Naturally we start very young with the need to express ourselves . Today in America, art programs are few and far between. Art education is being defunded and it should not be. Many people don't realize the hidden benefits that art programs provide. Kids can have a jump start by being involved in the musical and visual arts. Their grades will be higher, their mental health will be more stable and socially they will be more engaged in life. Not to mention that art can be a source of money, not only in the most basic displayed art form but included is advertising and graphic arts as well. Many artists have had an impact on our culture as Americans. Art education is a catalyst to a more cultured and diverse society. Modern art is the …show more content…

For example if someone experienced a traumatic event in their life, such as a death, that person can seek solace in the arts in order to help them cope. They can express their emotions by picking up a paint brush, pounding a lump of clay, strumming the strings of a guitar or playing a few keys on the piano. All resulting in improved mental status, less added strain to their bodies thus leading to fewer doctors visits. Also living a stress free life with art creates a person that is satisfied with their life and a happier person (How the Arts Impact Society, Princeton University). The more people who know the benefits of art will live a more rounded life. Keeping art in schools will create that base of knowledge, creativity, joy and contentment that forms a foundation for a happy life. This will benefit society greatly with more healthy people, both physically and mentally, contributing to our culture and ever growing
