Human beings needs to connect with other people in order to function naturally in the society. Communities can be found in different backgrounds, cultures and countries around the world. Institution, families, social clubs and group that shares common interest are part of a community. Communities have resources to support each other and provide essentials for individuals to be successful in the society. Having stronger sense of community benefits the contemporary society; community provides support from others, guidance and less isolation to the individuals in the society.
Everyone will see a piece of art differently and people will come to the terms that not every citizen will appreciate or have the same perspective on the sculpture that your are about to put in the center of town. Throughout this article the author tends to use more pathos than anything with personal experiences to invoke the reader to do something over the budget cuts.
Art, in many cases, acts as a catalyst for change. In the past, many individuals have utilized art to convey inspirational messages to the public imploring them to enact and embrace change. In the film Pleasantville, Bud presents Bill Johnson with a book containing numerous beautiful paintings. This event completely changes Bill’s world view, converting his previous repetitive and colorless life into one devoted to creating wonderful pieces of art. This demonstrates how embracing change can positively influence one’s life, and how art acted as a catalyst for change in Bill Johnson’s life.
New York is a great town, filled with new sights and old friends. One of the many things that Bullard TALENT did in my 7th grade year while in New York was sight-see. Bullard TALENT traveled all over the city, observing the busy residents and the famous landmarks, like the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, and Central Park. While all of these places were unforgettable, in my opinion, the best thing that we got to see was a Broadway production of Aladdin. It was truly amazing.
Everywhere one goes there is artwork, because the world is art. People see it in their everyday lives. People hear it in music. People make their livings off of artwork. On the other hand there are those people out there in the world that have no desire for art, and agree with Effective Altruism.
Eileen Miller said that “Art can permeate the very deepest part of us, where no words exist.” Every person experiences emotion, and for some people these emotions are more prominent than they are for others. A great deal of those emotions are negative and make a person’s day to day life difficult to manage. Art is a beneficial form of stress relief and self-expression for several individuals. Research has shown that art therapy is a reliable and valid therapeutic treatment that reduces depression, improves social anxiety, and assists in treating individuals with many types of phobias.
The urge to acquire and own art is a time-honoured one. From the grand patronage of Renaissance popes and princes (not to mention de Medici), to eighteenth-century British aristocrats, or the bulk buying of Europe’s cultural heritage by America’s J. Paul Getty, over the centuries art has been amassed for purposes of propaganda, prestige, intellectual enlightenment and sheer pleasure. Few activities run the gamut of human impulses more comprehensively than the acquisition of art. Yet, however lofty or ignoble the underlying motivation, the cultural significance of art collecting has always extended beyond individual desire.
To this purpose, research has established the need and efficacy of arts integration. Most representatively arts integration is “an approach to teaching and learning through which content is taught and assessed equitably in and through the arts” (Riley, 2017). To position the purpose and benefits of art integration the research works of: 1) Lorimer and 2) Scripp & Paradis were reviewed and evaluated. These bodies of work reveal a strong correlation between art integration, using both visual and performing art, and improved student achievement.
Regarding to CCD projects mentioned previously, interdisciplinary collaboration can be seen commonly, including artist, local organizer, social worker, community member, students.
