The two main topics that will be covered in this interview is death and bereavement. This is not an easy topic no matter how young or old. Death has no respect of person but is commonality everyone must face and can not escape. I initially wanted to interview my grandmother on this topic. I wanted to choose her because she always call my mother claiming she is about to die and her kids will miss her when she die. With her making comments like that I naturally thought she embraced the idea of death. As I started to interview her she asked for one of her nerve pills and asked me if I mind because she can not take it. In the first question I asked her what was her earliest remembrance of death she could remember. She told me she was around the age of six and her grandfather died. She claims she thought it was the end of the world. When she was eight a little girl that lived across the street from her died, and she could not believe someone so young like her can die so young. The girl died from a sickness. Then I asked how has her family views affected her views on death? Mrs. Todd exclaimed that being brought up as a christian she believed from being taught that it was not the end but just another beginning. She went to Sunday school since the age of three and she learned that there is life after death. There is a term in my class text book called the epidemiology transition, this is when there is a shift in the proportion of death between the elderly and young. I asked her if she believed more younger people are dying now and if so what do she think is the common link or cause? She said “It seems to me they are. The reason why I believe they are is because of wars, alcohol, and fast cars don’t help a lot”. Mrs. Todd told me when she was growing up the common cause of death she believe was heart attacks and
