My topic is assisted suicide, and that it when a doctor gives you some type of medication to assist you in ending your life. Should this be legal in the United States? Assisted suicide is important to talk about because there are people dying and going through with assisted suicide in six states already. What do the doctors give the people that want this done to them? Why would people want this done to them? Also, where is it already legal in the United States?
To begin with, my first question is what do the doctors give the patients that kill them? I have found that the patient can either drink a ten-ounce cup of the medicine or take a ten-ounce shot of the medicine. (1) The patients get to pick which method they want to go through with.(1) What do people have to do to get approved for this? The patients have to have a type of medically diagnosed depression or be suffering, from an incurable disease. (1) They also could think that they are causing the people in their life emotional stress because they are depressed or terminally ill and don’t want to suffer or make their family watch them suffer. Most of what I found is that the patients are suffering from depression or have cancer. Also when they do have this done the people with depression usually figure out who is there for them and how many people love them and change their mind. Like in Oregon there have been around one thousand six hundred people that have and around a thousand have gone through with it. Fewer people have gone through with this than I thought would. Maybe it is a good idea to make it legal. Also, what do the family of the people that have this done think? Do they think that was the best choice and do they think it should be
