Lamar Giles, the writer of the dystopian horror novel "The Getaway", introduces a secondary character into the story named Seychelle. Every child in the Foster Care System has their own reason and their own story for being there, but who will listen? Every child has a voice that matters, no matter how small. Children in the system are pulled, moved, rejected, adopted, and transferred throughout the FCS without being consulted about the who, what, wheres, and whys of the situation. Most of them just get in the car waiting to see where the system will put them next. Each year the amount of children in the system continues to grow every year; however, nothing that those working for the system do can put an end to its exponential growth.
Sadly, they usually are more unfortunate than lucky. Treating foster kids poorly and placing them in bad homes just to get your job done is not okay. The foster care system is failing kids badly, because they are more emotional, scared, and most have developmental issues because of what they have been through. The eligibility requirements is something I would change about this policy because I believe that if a child is taken from any neglectful situation or home, that child should be tested for disabilities or counseling to see if that child might need further help. Also the policy should have the same eligibility requirements in each state because. When the eligibility is different in each state it is only effecting the quality of care to the children in the foster care system. This policy has been around for many years and I personally cannot say I see a big change in the results of the foster care system, so no this policy has not been implanted effectively.
