Pearl Harbor was the most important event in United States history. It was the driving force that prompted the United States to join the war. Because no other country has ever invaded U.S soil before. The United States and Japan had a growing tension between them that was only getting worst. After Japan had invaded China, the United States banned the export of oil to Japan because the U.S was afraid of Japan. This attack was a surprise attack even though the United States had some suspicions of a possible attack. The United States likely would have joined the war without any Japanese attack because the United States was already assisting Great Britain.
