Arts and Music programs have been arounds schools for the longest time and many critics say that they are not sophisticated and a waste of money, but it helps students develop. Art and music programs offer jobs and careers. ¨as part of of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt 's New Deal, and provided work for unemployed artists and musicians in public schools.¨- Flynn. Since 1947 art and music programs were promoted by many people so the President Roosevelt created the FAP or the Federal Art Program which funded art and music programs. This helped many unemployed art and music teachers with jobs and teach kids about art and music. “research has indicated that students involved in art and music tend to exceed average achievement in other areas of the curriculum. Studies conducted by the DOE have found a positive correlation between arts involvement and success in other subjects such as mathematics, science and literature.”- Flynn. Researchers from DOE (Department of Education) conducted studies and concluded that those who are involved with arts have also gotten over average achievements in other subjects. The last reason for schools to have art and music programs is that it can help with coordination with others and help them relax. “Arts education was viewed as a way to help students to develop coordination and analytical ability, and was thought to help in developing morals. Child psychologists began to promote the idea that arts education should be used to help children develop creativity, a shift away from earlier practical approaches.”- Flynn. It can help kids get educated on human morals and can help kids get to know each other better.
