The dangers of American football are obvious and have been apparent for many years, especially those who play and those who have played the game. Although the dangers that are involved in football are apparent, they have not only caused body-threatening injuries but life-threatening ones as well, which have also caused controversial debates about how safe or dangerous the sport can be. Football season, which usually takes place in the Fall, can be very exciting-- especially those games that take place in high school. The sport is in fact a worldwide fad and the enthusiasm that people share for it is unconditional. Because of the injuries associated with football, it is indisputably a violent sport. There are many factors that contribute to violence in football. One apparent factor is through direct body contact. The sphere of competition in face-to-face contact activities like football and rugby often require players to derail the efforts of opponents by direct physical manipulation such as actions like blocking, tackling, and body checks. The intensity of these actions used in football are however what ultimately makes the sport so violent, which leads onto another factor. Another factor that I believe contributes to the violence of football is the fact that the violence in football has become entertaining for the fans and they would begin their own violence around with other fans that support opposing teams to win.
