The Death Penalty in Texas has been around for as long as I can remember. I've known from a really young age that the death penalty was a very extreme form of executing inmates in prison for a very horrible crime they committed.

Many people may argue against getting rid of the death penalty because the death penalty gives family closure, but that isn't always the case. Most cases people want the person who committed the crime to their family member to rot in jail for the rest of their life. A way for a person to convey that they may be a supporter of the death penalty would be the quote “An eye for and eye, a tooth for a tooth.” To me, the death penalty is basically revenge. Every single year the death penalty kills innocent people who were wrongly convicted for a crime. For the majority of the victim's families, the death penalty does not benefit them in any way at all, and most of them do not want the criminals put to death. The death penalty alone for a single inmate costs a significantly large amount more than a life sentence in a jail.

When it comes to the death penalty, there are numerous amount of methods used by the government. The number one most common is lethal injections used by thirty four states.
Another very commonly used method is electrocution, used my 10 states. The gas chamber is used in 5 states.
