Have you ever been very upset with your parents and said bad things, like, “I hope you die.” Lizzie Borden was accused in 1860 of killing her father and stepmother. The interesting thing was that she was found innocent but everything pointed towards her committing the murders. Still to this day people are still trying to find out who murdered the two. I feel that Lizzie did commit the murders. Reasons for thinking that she did are that she destroyed the dress she wore the day of the murders, she didn’t have a very good relationship with her step-mother and father, and she gave different reasons every time asked about going out to the barn. This is a very important reason in her case because of evidence. According to Murderess or Media Sensation, “...burned a dress that she claimed had been stained while doing housework, which police considered the destruction of evidence.” This is a good reason that leads me to believe that she did it, because it just so happened that the dress that she wore the day of the murders was ruined the day after so that she had to burn it. This is either a really bad timed coincidence, or Lizzie burned it to get rid of any evidence the police could use against her. If you had evidence against you that the police didn’t totally know about then you would probably want to get rid of it, so they had the least amount of evidence against you as possible. Lizzie had been accused of other crimes but was never caught, so maybe she thought she could have a good enough cover up story not to be caught again. Other people might say, “Lizzie would never actually act on any of her thoughts just like me and you wouldn’t either.” In paragraph 12 of “Fourteen Reasons to Believe Lizzie Murdered Her Parents” it states, “In 1891, cash and jewelry were stolen from the master bedroom in the Borden home. It was an open secret that Lizzie was suspected as having been a thief.” If Lizzie Borden didn’t have enough respect for her parents that she would steal money and precious jewelry why would she have any respect for them at all. She didn’t care if it wasn’t hers or if it was, she wanted to get whatever she wanted when she wanted it. Having absolutely no respect for either of her parents is another reason why I think that Lizzie killed her own
