Many events in history have gone unanswered and one of those events was the killing of the Bordens. The book has three separate parts to it and they are all very well detailed. The Borden family consisted of Andrew, the father, Abby the stepmother to Andrew 's daughters, Lizzie and Emma, Andrews two daughters and Bridget, the house maid. They all lived together in Fall River until on August 17, 1892 when Bridget was out cleaning windows, Emma was out of town, and Lizzie was in the back yard a gruesome killing happened. Arnold R. Brown wrote this book primarily to uncover the truth about who killed the couple while either proving or disclaiming theories that have surrounded the story.
August 4th, 1892, around noon Andrew Borden was found in the parlor of his home, followed by the finding of his wife’s body in an upstairs bedroom. Who did it? Several theories have been given as the causes of this murder. Lizzie Borden, was accused of this crime, but the question is was she really the murderer? The theories have emerged which could explain the causes of Andrew and Abby Borden’s death.
A murder was struck in the small, quiet town of Fall River, accusation were made all around the town. Who do you think would do this? The case of the Borden murderers has not yet caught the culprit but, people suspect the daugher of the victims Lizzie Borden to be the murderess. I believe Lizzie Borden did not kill her father and stepmother. No evidence against her was found, she loved her family, and had an alibi/testimony that was convincing.
The most plausible theory is Lizzie Borden the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Borden who allegedly murdered them. To start with, Samantha M. Gavin, a full-time lecturer in Administration of Justice, describes her past relationship with both her father and stepmother,¨Lizzie's relationship with her father and stepmother was unstable¨(Borden, Lizzie 1860-1927). The morose and unstable relationship between Lizzie Borden, her Father, and her Stepmother possibly was the motive for the killings. After the police came, the bodies were found. In an interview with Lizzie Borden, they noticed it had been strange that she showed no signs of grief, and remarked a snarky comment when speaking about her stepmother (Mooney).
I believe that Lizzie Borden did kill Both Abby and Andrew Borden on the day of August 4, 1892. Some people think that Lizzie is guilty some think she is innocent. My reasons for believing this are she wanted more attention from her father. My second reason is when she testified about what happened and her whereabouts it didn't add up. My third and final reason to believe that Lizzie is guilty is she had reasons to think that her father was going to get hurt shortly before her father got killed.
Some of the time Lizzie and her sister Emma would not eat with the elder Borden. Lizzie did not eat with them the day so they expert said maybe Lizzie felt she did have to because she was going to kill them (Berni, C. (1997). After, the murder had taken place Lizzie had burnt a dress and then claimed it had red paint on it. Lizzie was know to shoplift from local stores.
Lizzie Borden… She was 33 at the time of her parent murders and was listed as a suspect. She is very guilty. I have 3 reasons why I say this, also some reasons why others may disagree with me. Lizzie was very suspect when she told her side of the story and she did things that made me feel this way, also she didn’t seem very upset about her parents and she was still comfortable in the house afterwards.
