I have always liked movies made by Universal Pictures; Harry Potter, E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, Les Miserables, The Lorax, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas are some my favorite films that they have made. I wanted to go to Universal Studios for a long time, and last school year, Alanis’s parents invited me to go to Orlando, Florida with them over spring break. When my parents agreed to let me go, I was ecstatic. Alanis and I had a tremendous amount of fun while in Orlando; we especially enjoyed seeing all of the attractions in Universal Studios. If you ever intend to go to Florida, I recommend that you go to Orlando; you should bring games for the long ride, visit the beach in one of the surrounding towns, and visit Universal Studios. …show more content…

The theme park was astonishing; it was full of people, shops, and movie-themed rides and attractions. My favorite attraction, by far, was the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. There were two parts to this attraction, Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. While we were in Diagon Alley, we visited Ollivander’s Wand Shop. The shop was filled with different kinds of wands; from wands used by the characters of Harry Potter to personal wands. After some debating, I picked out a personal wand made of alder; I picked it because flutes used to be made out of that certain kind of wood. After walking through all of Diagon Alley, we entered Universal’s version of London so that we could ride the Hogwarts Express. The train ride was excellent! It looked like we were actually riding through a tunnel and across fields to get to Hogwarts; they also played shadows on the doors so that it looked like Harry, Ron, and Hermione were walking around outside. Once we got to Hogsmeade, we went straight to Hogwarts; it was beautiful! In order to get to one of the rides, we had to walk through the castle. It was exactly as I had imagined it; there were moving pictures on the walls, the Sorting Hat sat on a pedestal—it was repeating the rules of the ride—and there was even a point where we got to see Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
