When talking about which sport is harder, that can add a big argument. Soccer and basketball are something I think people may argue about the most. Which one is harder? In my opinion, I think soccer is more challenging. My first reason for believing that is, soccer has more physical demand. Soccer players are required to run much further than basketball players. According to a source I found- Is soccer harder than basketball? - soccer players run about 2.5 times as a basketball player has to; soccer players run around 7 miles a game and sometimes more than that, while the farthest a basketball player has ever run was 2.72 miles. Soccer must also last longer. Basketball games only last 48 minutes with 12-minute quarters and a 15-minute halftime. Soccer had 45-minute halves with only a 15-minute halftime having limited substitutions often having extra time added. Soccer games are about twice as long as basketball games and still, soccer has fewer substitutions and breaks, which means you have to be more physically healthy when playing soccer and in very good shape. …show more content…
Soccer players have to be fast; especially fast for long periods of time. Soccer players have to be ready at all times and have to keep moving to get open, defend, get around someone, chase the ball, etc and that's all on a big field for a longer period of time. Basketball has a smaller court so they don’t have to run as far and only really need quick movement. It’s also harder to score, imagine having to get through 10 players in order to score and then a goalie. There are limited chances to score since it is hard to create opportunities not to make many of their shots. Basketball has a whole lot more opportunities making a majority of their shots, so shots aren’t as meaningful until the end really, but it still does take skill to play
