When individuals think of power in families, they think the head of the household has all of the power automatically. However, members of a household all exert power on others. In the Tanner household from the TV show Full House, viewers often do not notice the overuse of power because every individual is loving in their own way. Almost every viewer knows that the members involved in Full House are not enemies with each other. Viewers who watch the show fell in love with the family in an instant.Often times, individuals think the only ones that are able to have power are parents or older siblings. Normative power is the expectations of how the family functions. Since Pam Tanner, who is the mother of the three girls, passed away before the show even started the father basically took a part in leading both roles. Danny in the show took care of his three daughters in any way that they needed. An individual who uses this resource of power generally manages daily activities for other family members. There was one time where his best friends went away on vacation and made Danny in charge by himself without any help. This is a situation that reflects where societal expectations of authority have been taken in place (Galvin 182). Personal resources in power have taken a role and it's not only about authority. This means that an individual's characteristics can take over how someone decides to work with power. An example where this resource of power is used in this family is when Michelle who is the youngest sister of the three girls decides to have a lemonade stand in order to make her own money at a young age. This shows that the child would like to gain interdependence to get what she wants. If a child has too much power at an early age then individuals have a tendency to act like adults earlier than they need to (V16
