Yes, sometimes censorship might be beneficial, especially in schools, but Ray Bradbury would say no as it silences opinions. Censorship should not be present in adulthood since everyone has different opinions and we need to respect both sides even if we don’t agree with them. Quotes: When Captain Beatty starts yelling at Montag he yells, “What traitors books can be! You use them, too, and there you are, lost in the middle of the moor, in a great welter of nouns and verbs and adjectives”
There is at least 300 books banned a year for foul language, but don’t you think that an invasion of the authors freedom of press and an invasion of children 's first amendment as well? So I think that books should not be banned. I have three main idea the first on is that the books can be about history and they have some language back then that was fine but is not fine today. The second reason is that libraries should be able to hold all types of books but have an age restricted area. The last reason is that it will get rid of children’s first amendment, and the authors first right as well.
If you have ever wanted to know what the most elite version of police in the United States is? If so it is the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Special Weapons and Tactics (FBI Swat). What is the FBI Swat? The FBI Swat is a Swat team managed and operated by the FBI and can operate nationwide in a plethora of situations ranging from hostage situations to sieging a terrorist compound. This group is not the only Special weapons and Tactics team, there are several teams per state. As long as the literature being read is constitutional then that should be the only censorship happening. In the dystopian novel of Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury they don’t read books but rather burn them. They don’t see the value in
Book banning is not as common as it is made out to be in the U.S., but it does put a restriction the constitution’s first amendment. To ban a book, in the U.S., from a public or school libraries, for offensive content, a challenge must be made against the book. A challenge can be made by anyone but of the challenges made between “1990 and 2000, there were 6,364 challenges reported... sixty percent were reported by parents, fifteen percent by patrons and nine percent by administrators” (Schools and censorship: Banned Books). Most of these challenges sent to the American Library Association do not get accepted and officially ban the book.
There are several reasons people want books to be censored in school libraries. Thomas Riggs, an editor for Gale, explains the primary reason books are banned is because
Would you want anyone to ban books so you couldn’t further your education? School Board members should not ban certain books because students can get more of a challenge from certain books, you also can get many life lessons from a more mature book, and students also get more of a choice which means more books to read. One reason I believe school board members should not ban books is because it gives students more of a challenge. For example, teachers like to challenge kids to read above their grade level and reading more mature books will get them there. However, how will they get assigned harder or more challenging books if those kinds of books are banned from the school library.
The concept of censorship is at fault to attempt to control and halt the advance of knowledge. So, censorship takes the form of leaving gaping holes in students education and later on in life. To me, censorship should not be attained in schools. This is because books are among our best teachers and “protecting” children from the difficulties of the world through censorship isn’t teaching them anything. Although you believe not all books are appropriate for certain age groups, on the contrary, kids find out the things you try to censor them from in the end.
The first amendment guarantees freedoms of religion, expression, assembly, and the right to petition. Censorship mainly violates the freedom of speech. The definition of freedom of speech specifically states “the right to express any opinions without censorship or restraint.” Therefore, the use of censorship at all needless to say in school libraries is a clear violation of our constitutional rights, which can
Certain people believe specific books should not be banned in schools or libraries because it interferes with certain people’s freedom. Banning books interferes with the authors freedom rights. Our First Amendment Right states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” (“Your Bill of Rights”).
Censorship is another word for banning, the government/libraries/schools are keeping these books away from the public. Students should be able to read what they please, and they should not be stopped from doing
Censorship Censorship in schools may not be the best choice for enriching the future minds of the United States of America. Children of the United States of America should have the right to learn about anything for it is there amended right. Taking knowledge away from them and censoring it should not be the answer to keeping our Children pure it should be what we teach our kids. We need to teach them right and wrong that is what will keep our child’s mind pure. Many books are being taken off shelves every day in student libraries because a couple people do not think that the book is suitable for children.
Censoring books in libraries is a controversial topic. Some may think all books should be available to be read ,while others believe some books are too inappropriate to be placed in libraries.

There are both pros and cons to banning book in school. According to ProCon.org, “Parents have the right to decide what material their children are exposed to and when.” Parents have the right to ban books so they can protect their children from violent content. Children need to be protect from content that could scar them. ProCon.org also states that “Children should not be exposed to sex, violence, drug use, or other inappropriate topics in school or public libraries.”
