But it is also the world where choice has been taken away and reality distorted. And that is the most dangerous world of all.” She states censorship controls us and it gives us no choice. With having censorship in schools is where the falling of education comes into play. The concept of censorship is at fault to attempt to control and halt the advance of knowledge. So, censorship takes the form of leaving gaping holes in students education and later on in life. To me, censorship should not be attained in schools. This is because books are among our best teachers and “protecting” children from the difficulties of the world through censorship isn’t teaching them anything. They teach us compassion, new ways of thinking, and social skills. They also give us history and pieces of other’s minds. It gives a new point of view to be looking at and makes us more open-minded. Without books, we would be very narrow-minded and wouldn’t be able to problem solve as clearly. Reading also helps us improve our intelligence by showing us examples of vocabulary, life situations, and things in context. In, “The Diary Of Anne Franke,” we see a young girl being discrimated against because of her religion. Would we be able to know about those kind of life situations without books?
