25 October 2017 A staggering 65,000 plus children are in the foster care system, in need of a forever home. That number is insane. These children are in foster family homes, foster shelters, orphanages, and even in behavioral facilities just to have a bed. Even though there are many straight families welcoming some of these children into their homes, many are left behind. Same sex couples who are unable to have biological children of their own, but what a family, attempt to adopt and are turned down due to many bogus reasons. They are shown unconditional love and are raised not to judge others, therefore adding to the world better people. First of all, today everything seems to offend everyone one way or the other. Second of all, this is a country where freedom of religion is practiced. Telling someone they cannot adopt a child, because it goes against someone else’s religious morals is counterintuitive as well as forcing a religion on one who may not agree. Just because homosexuality goes against Christianity and the Religion of Islam does not mean that it is frowned upon by Buddhists or in Hinduism; and what if an individual has no religion? It is not just slightly hypocritical to turn down a couple due to a religion in a country of free choice.
