It seems easy for me to understand that we should set some rules and limitations on what a person has the right to own, carry, and use. Keeping track of intense powered weapons made to kill people isn’t the same thing as getting rid of and banning all weapons and getting rid of the 2nd amendment. The articles I chose to compare and contrast were, “Scrutinizing the Second Amendment” by Adam Winkler and “Nothing to debate: Second Amendment, legal gun in my purse saved our lives” by Lynne Russell. While there was not much to compare, aside from the articles both relating to the Second Amendment, it was quite obvious that one article was strictly opinionated, while the other was a solid analysis. In Russell’s article, she describes an event that occurred when she and her husband were traveling across the United States. They stopped at a motel for the evening and were ambushed by a deranged, armed man inside their motel room.

What Does the 2nd Amendment Mean to You? When asked what the second amendment is, one would normally answer “the right to bear arms”, which is true. This right is guaranteed to U.S. Citizens under our Constitution. Due to recent events and circumstances, this freedom and right that has been granted is now threatened by those who feel that it is too “dangerous” to protect yourself. Being that I myself nor any of my family owns a firearm, one might speculate that we do not feel the need for protection.

Two years ago, in June of 2008, the Supreme Court ruled in District of Columbia v. In my own opinion, I am glad that Heller won I strongly think he should have won. I support the Second Amendment very adamantly. I believe that D.C did not have the right to tell Heller he could not have a permit, it goes against the constitution to tell a person that the rights that our Fore-Fathers gave us no longer applies to our lives and that they have to give up their right to bear arms. A person should be allowed to have the right to keep and bear arms to be able to protect and support their family.
I believe that Amendment 2 should be ranked number one because to all the people I believe there’s a need to feel for safety, safety develops things such as organization, communication, and efficient collaboration. Then, Amendment 1 would be next because I think that the people 's voices matter, either in forms of the press or speech, more importantly the freedom to choose what you believe in should not be a limitation. Next, I wanted to make sure that all people are treated fairly and be educated on their rights, so that they have the possibilty to defend themselves against a choice made by the government that doesn 't feel right with them, this lets the government know their boundaries and understand that America is ruled by the power of the people.
