I believe America, as a whole has always been a free state. They may of had some rough patches along the way to get to where they are now, but America has always been the land of the free. This is because of the three main documents that America wrote after they gained their independence from Britain during the revolutionary war.

The Bill of Rights is one of the biggest, if not the biggest reasons America has always been a free country. After gaining independence from Britain, America knew they had to create their own laws. America wrote a document that officially started the country’s laws. This document, known as the Bill of Rights would still hold true, more than 225 years later. These laws guaranteed US citizens their rights. For example, In the first amendment, Americans have the right to freedom of speech and the freedom of religion, along with a few more others. In the second amendment, Americans have the right to bear firearms. The Bill of Rights have many laws that shape America to the great country we are today, and if that document wasn’t written, we wouldn’t have the laws that we do today. …show more content…

The declaration was written after the Americans beat the British in The Revolutionary War as a way to gain their independence from Britain. This long document separated America from Britain. It talked about how the Americans are no longer under the tyranny of the United States. The Declaration of Independence contained phrases like “that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government”. Along with this phrase, there are many other sentences stating how America is their own country and has the right to do what they want.
