The artwork that I chose was called Taos Cemetery, and the artist is Andrea Culver. The predominant art style of this work is photography. The Taos Cemetery is a portrait and it also deals with nature. In the photograph, we can tombstone, a sculpture of an angel, and a cross with flowers around it. We can also see nature in it, such as the sky, the mountains, and the green plants. I think that this is a realistic piece of artwork. The lines that are present in this artwork can be seen on the cross and the tombstone, both have vertical lines up. There is also a horizontal line in the middle of the photograph, that shows us the perspective of the artwork. Some of the shapes are circles, rectangles, and squares. There are different types of colors in this. For example, there are soft colors, but also darker and strong ones. Some of the warm colors seen in this photo are red, yellow, pink, and orange. The cross looks bigger, then anything else on the photo. Although both the tomb and the cross have neutral colors, the cross seems to grab more attention. The flowers around it also bring in more attention to the cross. The space being used in the artwork is “deep space”, because it looks like you can see for miles and miles into the landscape. The darker areas of the artwork, can be seen in the center behind the cross. The lightest areas are on the top, from the sky. The dull areas are seen in the ground and in the plants, while the brighter ones are on the cross, angel, and tombstone. The balance the artwork is asymmetrical, both sides are different.
