Miller crafted the crucible as an allegory, because at the village was going through McCarthy Era, which lead to communism. He basically put himself in John Proctors point of view and created a play talking about how women were being accused of being witches with no proof and being killed. That is exactly how communism worked, if the government though there was anything sneaky the personwould be sent to jail. The witches signified as the communist. When John proctor is having an affair with his wife, he sees the wrong being done, becauase at this point Abigail starts to accuse Proctors wife of being a witch and he realizes that hes trying to defened her and tries to defend his wifes name.

Upon finding them Betty Reverend Parris’s daughter and some of the girls become ill. Abigail Reverend Parris’s niece tells him that when he found them in the wood Betty was so frightened when Parris found her she fainted and won’t wake. With Betty and the other girls unable to wake rumors of witchcraft start around the community.

Reverend Parris, the town minister, discovers his daughter, Betty, his niece, Abigail, and other girls dancing in the forest with his slave Tituba. Betty faints and does not wake up due to the shock and fear of being discovered. The villagers suspect witchcraft and gather at Parris 's house.

People throughout history have turned on each other in fear, and have use irrational thinking to justify what they have done. Though the story portrays the Witch Trials, it is able to connect with other events in history due to how the themes can connect with the reader and resonate with how people can feel under certain stress at these moments. Arthur Miller writes in the way that the story can live on in other situations to make points on how we treat each other during these times, the rhetorical appeals he uses becoming important as to why this story is still important to our history in more than one event. As spoken before, The Crucible is set in a certain time period, but advances its meaning into other aspects of history; written in the 50’s, it can be traced back to a connection with McCarthyism, the story an allegory for this period.
Reverend Parris is the father of Betty Parris and the Uncle to Abigail Williams. In the opening scene, he catches both girls, including some others dancing in the woods. This was very forbidden during this time because of the threat of witchcraft. The next day Betty starts acting very strange and they start to assume it’s witchcraft. Especially once they question Tituba and she admits to being a witch.

In “The Crucible” by Arthur Miller there are many characters and in turn many relationships between characters. Some of these relationships have a positive connotation and the characters bond over their motivations while others are the opposite. This meaning that some relationships that develop throughout the novel are because the characters have mutual transgressions, or violations of moral code. A prime example of a relationship that was created over a mutual transgression would be the relationship between Abigail Williams and John Proctor. Abigail is a seventeen year old female who was once a servant for the Proctor family and she is also the niece of Reverend Parris.

A father goes missing after plunging down a path riddled with crime and a mother and her children oblivious to the things occurring around them. What does a mother do when the father of her children thrusts out of their life all of a sudden. Anything she can do to protect them. Andrea Doubenier thinks it best for her family to move back to Salem, Massachusetts to live with her mother until this dreary time has passed and her family can feel safe again.
