A new beginning, fresh start, clean slate whichever you choose to call it, it is widely acknowledged as something that everyone strives for once something dreadful has happened. A father goes missing after plunging down a path riddled with crime and a mother and her children oblivious to the things occurring around them. What does a mother do when the father of her children thrusts out of their life all of a sudden. Anything she can do to protect them.

Andrea Doubenier thinks it best for her family to move back to Salem, Massachusetts to live with her mother until this dreary time has passed and her family can feel safe again.

The train remained at the station for a few minutes before finally bustling along, the brief wait left the girls eager to begin their long journey south towards Salem. About an hour or so later Andrea and Christina, Andrea’s oldest daughter, overheard some men that were about four seats away talking about recent deaths in Salem. According to the gentlemen (who obviously seemed much too drunk) these deaths were due to the victim's loss of blood.

As a result, these five men began making passengers feel extremely uncomfortable including Andrea, who thought of nothing but her daughter’s safety. “Teeth marks!” A man with a red scarf shouted, “On his neck, they were huge!” His shrieking caused a few passengers to jump and stare with widened eyes. “When they found him, he was as white as a ghost!” he continued to say. Andrea didn’t tolerate such violent stories passing the ears of her girls so she pulled them close and hoped that the warmth of her arms around them would help them fall
