The section pages 161 to 166 in the book, Introduction to Teaching,
The authors start this section of the book using the CARS method by establishing a territory. They intrigue the readers by making a topic generalization. In the section, How Can Teachers Work with Families and Communities, the authors use this technique to hook the readers by explaining the researches importance. The style is move one of creating a research space. The authors establishing the researches importance when they write that, "Teachers see the impact of both of these major factors in a child's life during the school day as they interact with the student" (Comer, J. P., & Haynes, N. M., 2016, p. 162). Applying "major" in the sentence, it comes off to the readers that the factors should be a concern that the readers need to learn about.

This section is over how parents and the community can positively and negatively affect their child's education. The authors explain that, "Teachers and principals perceive parental support as a major contributor to student learning. That's not just a perception: it's a tested reality" (Hall, G. E., Quinn, L. F., & Gollnick, D. M., 2016, p. 162) This sentence shows how the authors think they are right because they believe in their research and likely leaving out contradictory research. The reason they believe they were right is because the authors are experts and have done tremendous amounts of research over this topic. They compared children who have supported parents and children that do not. I completely agree with their research that students that have parental support in school are more successful in school. The authors provide the information and research they need to supply a thorough reason behind what they are writing
