The Articles of Confederation period of American history, from 1781 to 1789, was one of the most critical time periods when it comes to developing our nation’s government as a whole. After the colonist rebelled against the tyrannical Monarchy in Great Britain they needed to create a new form of government. This form of government they ended up creating was called the Articles of Confederation (AoC). The AoC was a document that established the functions of the brand new national government.
The Articles of Confederation, written in 1776, were the foundation to a war-based government. At the time of the drafting this was deemed necessary, but years later, it became a burden on the States. A few select men were tasked with the editing of the Articles, to make them more sustainable to the 'modern' times of 1787. However, those men chose to drop the Articles of Confederation completely in favor of a new, improved Constitution.

Such flaws would eventually lead to the Constitution and the repeal of the articles, for the Constitution was a measure to fix the problems of the articles with a stronger government that allowed them to impose taxes and and implement new laws for a more effective government.

A couple of ideas and events led to believe that in 1786 and 1787 that the Articles of Confederation were lacking provisions for a strong and central government that were not working well. These events and ideas made a big impact on the government we have today in the United States. The Articles of Confederation were a model to the present day Constitution; it took many trials and tribulations to finally get it right. The events that took place showed the people what the Articles were lacking.
Out of this need, the Articles of Confederation were born. They lasted for a short time, but were ultimately too weak to ensure the survival of our nation. We needed a way to keep our nation together, but many people were afraid that a document that gave our federal government too much power would put us in the same position we had just escaped, thus the United States Constitution was born. This document laid out the framework of the government of our nation, laid out the branches of it, its checks and balances, explained its purpose, and very carefully and deliberately named each and every one of its powers. The Constitution did more than that though, it also laid out the basis of the rights of every state of the union, as well as the rights of every citizen of the nation, and stated that our rights are not limited to those listed in the Bill of Rights and the Constitution, rather they are too many to name, and that it is the government that is limited based on what is written in the Constitution.

They talked about how the government should run in which they split it into three different branches, Legislative which creates laws, Executive which carries out laws, and Judicial evaluates laws. This also led on to the bill of rights which were the first ten amendments to the constitution. The most important one is the second amendment which is the right to bear arms.

After my time in service, I pursued a career in law, but eventually, I decided that I wanted to work for the public.
The Articles of Confederation and the Constitution are very alike. Like, they were both written by the same person, and they were both official government of the united states. Plus, They were both the laws of the United States government. However, there was a great connection between them it was that the Articles of Confederation was the first written Constitution. The AoC was used to make the Constitution with the weaknesses and failures of it.
