Artifice In Chris Hedges's 'Empire Of Illusion'

Many people would not think about artifice as being an important skill to have. The passage given from “Empire of Illusion” by Chris Hedges argues that the most essential skill would have to be artifice. He explains in the passages that the political theater and the consumer has artifice included. For example, there are political leaders that create some news about them, that may be fake. Since some of the new is fake, people are clueless and unaware about whether the truth is shown or not. Coming into this society, nobody really knows the truth about anything. People like political leaders may release some false news and no one will really find out. There may be plenty of rumors, but there are plenty of opinions. Having artifice is a skill can be a positive and negative to have. Artifice may consider tricking people, but it has way more publicity. But lying and manipulating may not be the proper way to either win something in a political case.
The words written by Chris Hedges are true. Personally, I agree with his argument. In the passage it states, “Political leaders, who use the tools of mass propaganda to create a sense of faux…” By having artifice as a skill, the people will be more interested. That is usually what the director does. This is the same thing to a political leader. They must make themselves stand out. If not, no one will notice them and people will be uninterested. Chris Hedge says, “They become unread.” Since the people are uninterested in the story, then why should it even exist. I believe that is how our society works nowadays. You must create stories that the people would like to hear and see. An audience must be entertained in order to be interested in something. If the audience is not pleased, then the story, news, etc. will be
