Teams need to work together to accomplish major feats, the team members need to have complete trust and work in perfect harmony with each other (Carron, Bray, & Eys, 2010). Each team member needs to know their exact responsibility on the team so that they can work together to achieve a common goal. In the 2000 American sports drama film Remember the Titians which was based on actual events, the team rose up against all odds to overcome racial prejudice and achieved respect from their community. They became a successful team that worked in harmony with each so that they could go on and win the championships (Yarmey, 2016). Cohesion of a team is a dynamic process as cohesiveness among the players can lead to interactions such a conflict or harmony (Yarmey, 2016). Having cohesion is a key component in team success, as it can increase performance so that athletes can make great achievements such as; come back during a game, or to beating more talented teams (Carron et al., 2010). There are multiple factors that contribute to the cohesiveness of a team; the team factors, individual factors, leadership factors and environmental factors.
Team Factors
The team factors are accounted for by the culture of how the team works or the dynamics of the energy levels given by the athletes (Yarmey, 2016). These factors account for how well each player interacts and the effort they put forth towards the different members of the team, who each individual works best with and who they may avoid (Yarmey, 2016). Players can also put minimal energy towards working with one team mate rather than another based on a pre-determined opinion of that athlete (Turman, 2003). The team needs to put aside differences and establish a culture so that the team meshes well together, so
