Akasha As part of the “Going back over” Assignment in “The Entrance Exam” course, I must do a series of nine essays covering nine different words: Akasha, So Mote it Be, Rede, Pentacle, Hex, Invoke, Evoke, Blessed Be and The Great Rite. In these essays I hope to cover various points ranging from the definition of the term Akasha, what it means to me, how it is used in modern magical practices, how/if I would use this term in my own practice, why it’s important and why I got the term wrong in the first place. This first essay covers the term Akasha. The term Akasha in the Pagan context means the element of Spirit, the 5th element with the other 4 being Fire, Water, Air and Earth. Akasha or Spirit is represented by the top point of the pentagram. Akasha or Spirit is the combination of all 4 elements. It is also referred to as Aether/Ether. An alternate view to Akasha is that rather than Akasha being a combination of all the elements, Akasha is infact the source of the other elements. Akasha is also present within us. The Akashic Records can be compared to a filing system on a Universal Level that stores every thought, word and deed. The Records are imprinted on Akasha. Some believe that the records can be accessed and read. The information stored in the record is the experiences your soul has gone through. From having studied the definition of Akasha and having researched into the Akashic Record, I can see that they are 2 different things with little similarities between them. I got the word incorrect as I had never knew the meaning of the term Akasha at all before. I had always seen mentions of the Akashic Records and mentions of the element of Spirit before on several Occult boards but I had never seen the word Akasha before, so upon doing the assignment and seeing the word “Akasha” I had no knowledge of what it meant. Now, however I know what it
