In the book, The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, Jeannette talks about her life growing up, along with the struggles and memories. In the article, “Why Losing Control Can Make You Happier” by Raj Raghunathan, his perspective is that being overly controlling can make you unhappy. I know this because the article says, “Being overly controlling of outcomes like being overly controlling of others also lowers happiness. ”(Raghunathan 2). Jeannette’s perspective of order and chaos is not like other people, her perspective is normal to her, she's used to it.

It did not take Sarah McLellan long in her career to face a situation that could put her reputation as a journalist on the line. As a young reporter for the Coyotes she sat down with the GM at the time, Don Maloney, for a 1-on-1 interview.
A quote that I have used to help me through high school at Mountain Heritage High School is “The Point is not to take the world’s opinion as a guiding star but, to go one’s way in life and working unerringly, precisely; neither depressed by failure nor seduced by applause.” This quote reminds me to stay humble and never give up. This quote has also reminded me, in countless situations, that other people’s opinions of me should not define me.

Hello my love, I'm writing to you a little further than usual from outside the city in this horrible war against the Spartans. Hope you're safe and tending to the house and watching over the children back home. I can’t wait to get back home and take a dip in the public bath and enjoy the company of friends. My love I hope the children are enjoying the sunny days and playing outside in the garden, and I hope that our son liked the toy chariot we got him. I know we married because I was the best fit for your father.
I chose this quote because it sums Iris Murdoch into one little sentence. I used this quote mainly because it is how amazing one sentence can say so much but also say so little about a person. This would be a great sentence for any normal writer, bur Murdoch’s life was so eventful that it could never be simply summed up in a sorry sentence like that. When I read this line from Iris Murdoch’s literary work the first thing I thought was, wow this sounds like another author I previously read and did a Quote and Commentary. I cannot put a finger on this other writers name, I can recall that he talked about religion like it was just a master idea to control people.
In ancient times, there is a general sense that women were simply items and slaves to their husbands. Ancient Greece specifically has a renowned reputation of favoring men. Men possessed the dominant role in public affairs and events while most women were pressured to stay at home. Very few records extensively discuss women; the records focus mostly on men. Despite the lacking records, it is certain how ancient Greeks viewed their women and their relationships with their male counterparts.

For the sake of argument let’s continue with the ‘Woman Entrepreneurship’ leading to success theory by supporting the same with the excellent evidence provided in The Athena Doctrine: How Women (and the Men Who Think Like Them) Will Rule the Future, by John Gerzema and Michael D’Antonio (published in 2013) John Gerzema and his colleague Michael D’Antonio had gathered opinions and perceptions from 64,000 people in nationally representative samples in 13 countries (from the Americas and Europe to Asia). This exercise identified a widespread dissatisfaction with typically “male” ways of doing business and a growing appreciation for the traits, skills and competencies that are perceived as more feminine. The results, published in their book The Athena Doctrine, reveal that 57 percent of people were dissatisfied with the conduct of men in their country, including 79 percent of Japanese and South Koreans and more than two-thirds of people in Indonesia, Mexico, U.K and the United States.
When Mussolini was captured, political power over Italy was restored to the royal family heir, Victor Emmanuel III. His first action was to appoint a man named Marshal Pietro Badoglio as Prime Minister, who then pledged cooperation with the allied forces and promised to continue fighting in the war. The fascist government party was dismissed and many political activists who had been imprisoned under Mussolini’s rule were granted amnesty and released. Although fascism no longer had a hold on Italy, the repercussions of Mussolini’s government and the physical and social destruction left behind from the war left Italy in a state of serious depression.
Ursula Le Guin defines Omelas as a utopia where the citizens’ lives are never wretched. Le Guin captures her readers’ attention by describing the city’s beauty with the colorful scenery, events featuring games and horse riding, and the everlasting happiness. She does a great job of leading her readers into thinking this could be the perfect society, but leaves us with the question of satisfaction. According to Le Guin, “happiness is based on a just discrimination of what is necessary, what is neither necessary nor destructive, and what is destructive” (p. 2). This quote means that there must be a balance for the society to succeed.
High school has impacted my life in so many ways. High School taught me so many things, from personal relationships to creating a relationship with my education. As a freshman, I made a huge amount of mistakes and I regret doing foolish things, but I’ve realized, I was only maturing into the young adult I am today. Freshman year, I was out of focus and I was only trying to find myself. I would also prioritize other things and ignore my parent’s advice, where they would tell me to focus in school and give it my full attention.
Freshman year I am critically going to address the importance of your first year. Its the base for the next three years. Your grade point average (GPA) contributes to setting that base, in addition, to the grades you make each year. Always remind yourself to be on top of your grades and set annual goals. Take advantage of the time spent in class, as usual, you can finish homework if you are on task.
