The Romans took the Greek's idea of Democracy and called it a Republic. It contribute by them spreading it to western civilizations. Rome had three branches, which based the US's government. In Ancient Rome, the citizens elected Senators, but they didn’t vote for the leader. The lower classes voted for Tribunes. They would veto unpopular decisions made by the Senate. When the Senate thought Rome was in danger, they would elect a dictator. The judicial branch had 12 Tables that promised equality in the law. The laws affecting business affairs, family relationship and the rights of the individual. The Justinian Code has influenced the legal systems of the United States. The requirement of all societies to have just legal systems. Women's rights were maintained in Judaism.Their was limitations on punishments for crimes. Workers' rights, including the obligation to pay them on time. Education for children is required in the US. Judaism believed that education was a way to stay in touch with their god and was an important factor of life.
