In 1945, Japan was losing World War Two, but was split between surrendering or fighting till the end. As they chose to fight instead of surrender, that is when Harry Truman was notified about the successful test of the “most terrible bomb in history”. Multiple hours were spent doing research, and billions of dollars were used for its production. Since an atomic bomb is serious the heat released in a nuclear explosion creates a sphere of burning gas that can range from hundreds of feet. Since Harry Truman was president at the time it was his decision whether or not he was going to use the bomb to end the war.
As many countries joined WWII, many of them were finding new ways to protect themselves. Thus the atomic bomb was born. The Germans found a way to split a uranium atom that created a huge explosion thanks to famous scientist, Albert Einstein. It wasn't long before the U.S. heard of this and started doing the same thing. In 1941, America hired a German physicist ad created a secret project called The Manhattan Project.
The Second World War was a dramatic and significant plot in history as it changed how the world would be seen today. The war affected Canada in many ways as it was important for the nation’s past and the influence it brings upon in the future. As the war continued, technology was accelerated. From these technological advancements, the most destructive weapon of the time was invented, the atomic bomb. Scientists from the United States (U.S.), Britain and Canada all gathered in the making of this weapon, although Canada did not receive much recognition of this invention and its efforts in the project.
Atomic Bombs DBQ Imagine you are a WWII pilot that is about to drop an enormous atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. What are your thoughts? On August 6th and August 9th, 1945, two atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan.
I believe the United States used the correct forms of engagement, when Truman decided to drop the atomic bomb to end World War 2. Henry Stinson claimed that if bombs were not used, then over a million Americans would have lost their lives, likewise Harry Truman says, General Marshall informed him 500,000 lives will be saved by dropping the bomb. This shows just how many American lives were saved by the decision to drop the bomb. If 750,000 people died that is more people than the whole city of Seattle, Washington. Ricard B. Frank said, that the Japanese would not have surrendered under modified terms and that the only way to end the war was to drop the bomb.
Was America right to use atomic weapons against Japan? The dropping of the atomic bomb in Japan at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, was the end of WWII. However, there has been much conflict considering the use of the bomb. In this essay, I will discuss reasons from both sides of the argument and justify my opinion.
During World War II, the United States discovered that the energy of the atom could be used in a new form of bomb. However, the Germans also discovered this, meaning that it would be a race to actually complete the weapon. The U.S. knew it needed to act fast and so three facilities were created for the development of the weapon in Washington, New Mexico, and Tennessee. The plants in Tennessee were based in almost the middle of nowhere.
In August 1945 the first, and last atomic bombs were used in war. For various reasons, Truman had chose the best option for ending the war. In 1945 the war in Europe just ended and the Allied Nations were looking for a way to make sure a world war did not break out again.
During the Cold War, the USSR and the United States engaged in a race for better technology. Each country feared that the other was trying to gain the upper hand to maintain world dominance. Each of the two countries wanted to avoid attack or possible invasion. The United States was the first country to develop any nuclear weapons. They developed these weapons through the Manhattan Project and were proven successful when the the United States dropped the first atomic bomb on Japan at the end of WWII.
World War II introduced the most dangerous weapon in the world, the atomic bomb. When the US used it on Japan we went to far and caused unnecessary damage to the people. Many people believe this to the only truth but, the real truth is that dropping the atomic bomb was a necessary evil we had to use in order to win the war in World War II and future wars to come. It save many american soldiers lives, stopped the Soviets from joining, and helped us win against Japan. First and foremost, World War II caused many casualties for both sides of the war.
The Manhattan Project was constructed during World War II by the United States to develop the first nuclear weapon/atomic bomb (The Manhattan Project” 2015).
An atomic bomb is a nuclear weapon, which its energy is being hardness from the element of uranium or plutonium. With the smallest amount of matter, it could transform to a huge devastation. It was the first nuclear weapon used during World War II. This resulted in the creation of a secret program called “The Manhattan Project.” The United States developed two atomic bombs during this time.
Thesis statement: Though many speculate that the act of dropping the atomic bomb on Japan (Hiroshima and Nagasaki) while not doing so on Europe (Germany and Italy) was racially motivated, racism played little to no role in these bombings. The United States of America and her allies were willing to end World War II at any cost, had the atomic bombs been available they would have been deployed in Europe. In the 1940’s there is no doubt that the United States of America was engulfed by mass anti-Japanese hysteria which inevitably bled over into America’s foreign policy. During this period Japanese people living in both Japan and the United States of America were seen as less that human.
The Atomic bomb should be eliminated and banned around the world to stop the potential destruction of our world. Julius Robert Oppenheimer, a scientist from New York, grew up in a rich household with access to the best schools. Oppenheimer was chosen by the government to work on this project and win the race towards nuclear warfare. This author states what deadly substance makes these bombs. "For example, he had moved readily from Niels Bohr 's purely scientific conjecture in the 1930s that U-235 is the fissile isotope of uranium to his own problem-solving estimate in 1941 of the amount of U-235 necessary for an effective weapon.
The dropping of the atomic bombs on World War II on the city of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a very important part of World War II. The atomic bomb ended the war between America and Japan. This was just one of the important events during the battle in World War II.
