The Civilian Conservation Corps was one of President Roosevelt's first and one of the most successful New Deal programs for unemployment relief. Formed in March of 1933 and lasting through July of 1942, the federally funded program employed over 3 million men to help preserve the nation's environment while helping to improve the economic condition during the Great Depression. The program had many advantages: it prevented young men from becoming criminals giving them hope, discipline, skills, and an improved behavior while preserving our nation's environment, and it helped in the decline of unemployment. The Civilian Conservation Corps, referred to as "Roosevelt's Tree Army", was under a military-like control.
Heroes are not invincible, and certainly are not the ones who always win; however, a hero is someone who, despite this, is courageous enough to fight for what is right. Atticus Finch, one of the most inspiring literary characters from the highly acclaimed novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, written by Harper Lee, is an example of such. This classic novel is told from the perspective of Scout Finch, Atticus’ daughter, a young girl who lives in the town of Maycomb County, Alabama, in the 1930s, a town where prejudice and discrimination is rife. Rather than succumbing to societal expectations and adopting the extreme animosity held by the other citizens, Atticus views and treats all with the dignity and respect that they are entitled to, guiding his

The definition of heroism changes with the context, time, and point of view. The archetype of heroism is defined as someone who is strong, intelligent, brave, and daring. A hero usually has some type of supernatural power that helps them combat a malicious villain or force. Heroes of the past are not essentially heroes of the present, and vice versa. Upon closer and more personal consideration, many more qualities of what makes a hero become evident.
Atticus's closing argument in To Kill a Mockingbird is a good display of several talking and writing styles such as ethos, pathos, and logos. His closing argument uses a tone that contributes to the persuasive effectiveness of his argument. Atticus Finch’s speech is an attempt to appeal to the jury to look beyond racial prejudice and to do what is right. I am going to attempt to analyze and show how Atticus uses these rhetorical strategies to contribute to the poignancy and effectiveness of his closing argument.

In Harper Lee’s American classic; To Kill A Mockingbird, Atticus Finch is the good neighbour. Atticus clearly displays his acts of bravery, intelligence, and fairness throughout the novel, Firstly, Atticus is a very brave person. To start, Atticus is brave because he took the case that no other lawyer in Maycomb could want.
Maycomb County, located about 20 miles away from Finch landing. The place that the Finch’s receive their social class status from of being higher and more elite than most. Social class and racism back in the early 1900’s caused many to become snobs, not all, but many. The work as a whole is shown thoroughly through the character of Atticus Finch, a model of integrity to lawyers all over, all in favor to the surroundings he grew up in around the early 1930’s, which ultimately shaped his morals traits as a racial hero in Harper Lee’s novel. Years after the Civil War ended and slavery in the United States was over, racism was still looming large over the country, especially in the South where American’s highly supported slavery.
Many people think that odysseus is a better hero but i think that Atticus Finch is a better hero. Atticus was born in a small country named Maycomb County. He was a lawyer in that county in the 1930’s (The Great Depression). He had a rape case that he was defending and the person he was a defending was a black man.
Every day in our lives, heroes are all around us. They may not be what society tells us is a hero, like Superman or Batman. They do not wear fancy costumes or have super powers. But these heroes change the lives of the people around them, for the better. Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird is the charismatic, understanding father of Scout and Jem Finch as well as a hard working lawyer in Maycomb County, Alabama.
Jean Louise Finch ‘Scout’ is a headstrong young girl who narrates the novel ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’, set in the fictitious County Maycomb over the span of three years. She is often found sporting dirty overalls or breeches and possesses a rather tomboyish personality, much to her aunt’s dismay. It says, “Aunt Alexandra was fanatical on the subject of my attire... When I said I could do nothing in a dress, she said I wasn’t supposed to be doing things that required pants. ”(Page 90)
One of the most powerful people in a person's life is their dad. This is an important philosophy in our society. However, opinions on what makes a father such a powerful figure in our lives vary. I believe a father must be strong and able to provide and protect the family. A father must be there for the family to lean on, they have to be the core of the family.
What makes a good father? It is someone who is a leader, someone who always wants what is best for you. Especially when times get rough. Over time parenting has changed and grown in many different ways. Authors tackle the ideal parent and different parenting actions and views.
There is a hero in almost every story. A hero doesn’t always necessarily involve physical strength, it can be defined many other ways. A hero is someone who is idealized for their noble qualities, courage and outstanding achievements. In Mary Shelley’s book, Frankenstein, the hero in the story is Victor Frankenstein. Victor sacrifices his family, his life, and other peoples lives for his pursuit of creating life, and attempting to cure diseases.
