Personal statement While we take our hearing ability for granted, others would love to be able to have it and hear the sounds of the world. This sums up what I have learned during my studies and practice of audiology. Being an audiologist entails the involvement in various emotional situations; from telling devastated parents that their child is diagnosed with hearing loss to seeing the beautiful reaction of clients hearing for the very first time. These moments, in fact, are what made me realize that my passion lies in helping people and making a difference in their lives. Striving for the best has always been something my parents emphasized on. Therefore, I consider education as a key towards achieving my dreams and reaching my full potential. I was recognized for my superior academic achievement and demonstration of leadership during my 12 years of school education. Throughout this period, and through exposure to different situations and experiences, I was able to develop my personality, self-confidence, and expand my leadership skills. This includes leading a project involving 20 students ; the project was aimed to evaluate the extent to which the high school educational system in Palestine meets the students learning needs. The touching situations and moments we experience with our clients have demonstrated to me the importance of communication skills and the attitudes an audiologist should present with.
